Aspen Expeditions has extensive experience climbing and trekking in the Himalayan Mountain Range. The Himalaya are the most impressive group of mountains surrounded by the highest peaks in the world. One can not help but be overcome with a feeling of awe when trekking or climbing upon these magnificent mountains.
While climbing peaks or trekking through remote mountain villages, we'll introduce you to the local mountain cultures. These hardy people have etched a living in unique eco systems that change with every step.
You may find your trek or climb beginning in towns surrounded by terraced rice fields only to end up a couple of days later in a village sustained on barley & potatoes. You'll see yak carrying loads up high in terrain so mountainous that no road could ever be built. And among all this you'll will often see monasteries, stupas and carved stone mani walls that date back to ancient times.
In 2010, we are featuring the following trips:
September 7 to October 5, 2010: Dolpo & the Snow Leopard Trek. In Matthiessen's Footsteps.
October 8 to November 1, 2010: The Snowman Trek of Bhutan
