Asia - Himalaya

Aspen Expeditions has extensive experience climbing and trekking in the Himalayan Mountain Range. The Himalaya are the most impressive group of mountains surrounded by the highest peaks in the world. One can not help but be overcome with a feeling of awe when trekking or climbing upon these magnificent mountains.

While climbing peaks or trekking through remote mountain villages, we'll introduce you to the local mountain cultures. You may find your trek or climb beginning in towns surrounded by terraced rice fields only to end up a couple of days later in a village sustained on barley & potatoes. You'll see yak carrying loads up high in terrain so mountainous that no road could ever be built. And among all this you'll will often see monasteries, stupas and carved stone mani walls that date back to ancient times.

The Everest region is the world's most famous adventure destination. Our trek includes all the highlights of the Everest National Park including Namche Bazaar, the high view point of Kala Patthar and a visit to Everest Base Camp.
This is truly one of the world's classic walks. Your reward for taking on this endeavor? Views of three of the world's highest peaks - Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Manaslu.
Sept. 7 - Oct. 5, 2010: Thirty years ago, Peter Matthiessen wrote The Snow Leopard, a peaceful, spiritual account of Matthiessen and zoologist George Schaller's search for the elusive snow leopard of the Himalaya.
Oct. 8 - Nov. 1, 2010: This trek incorporates a visit to the mountain people of Laya village followed by a rigorous yet delightful trek over high passes through one of the wildest and remotest regions of the Himalayan world.
