Trekking Peaks of the Rolwaling Valley
An amazing trek and climb combination in the remote valleys of Rolwaling

Overview

The Rolwaling is a remote valley running west to east just south of the border with Tibet and has remained basically unchanged for centuries. The two designated trekking peaks in this high valley are Ramdung Go (5925m.) and Parchermo (6187m.). This trek offers everything that makes trekking in Nepal so special; terraced farmland of the Bhote Kosi and Sun Kosi River Valleys, high alpine valleys, glacial lakes and standing on top of snow-covered trekking peaks. Ramdung lies close to the south side of the magnificent Gauri Shankar and also offers excellent views across to Menlungste and into Tibet. The views from Parchermo are even more spectacular, including Everest and Makalu. Each of these peaks involves strenuous, but technically straight-forward climbing. We begin with a four day trek across lovely terraced hillsides to the start of the Rolwaling Valley at Simigaon. This valley is steep sided and climbs steadily to the village of Beding. After a rest day at the high pasture areas of Na Gaon, we continue up to our base camp below the Yalung La at 4900 meters for the climb of Ramdung. The climb of Ramdung provides perfect acclimatization for the next part of our trip - the crossing of the Tesi Lapcha and our second trekking peak Parchermo. We exit the Rolwaling Valley via the magnificent Tesi Lapcha Pass into the Khumbu Valley. Crossing the Tesi Lapcha makes for an exciting finale to this great trek, as we descend into Thame and further to the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar.
