Climbing from the lake, next to a 1,000' waterfall, through a boulder field, across snowfields and steeper slopes, attaining a rocky ridge and steep ledges to the summit - Snowmass Peak truly offers it all.

Typical Itinerary

Itinerary

Day 1 - We start walking from the trailhead on day one with overnight packs along the roaring Snowmass Creek, crossing wildflower adourned meadows and natural beaver dams. Setting camp next to the glacial blue colored Snowmass Lake with Snowmass Peak looming high above.

Day 2 - On summit day, we circumnavigate Snowmass Lake, then climb through boulders and steep grassy ledges next to a 1,000' waterfall. Beyond, we enter a permanent snowfield and ascend steep snow slopes all the way to the summit ridge. Once attaining the ridge we will wrap around to the west side of the mountain, climbing steeper rocky ledges to the summit. Once on top you will be awarded with magnificant views of the south side of Capitol Peak and both the Elk and Ragged Mountain ranges.
