Day 3 - Aspen Rest Day: Internationally recognized Aspen, Colorado is perhaps one of the most famous mountain towns in North America. You may choose to simply relax and enjoy the town or consider an additional outdoor activity with Aspen Expeditions. From world-class restaurants, premier shopping and cultural events to the friendly faces of our mountain guides, make sure you take full advantage of all the Aspen area has to offer!
Day 1 - Acclimatization Day: On your first day in Aspen, you'll have the opportunity to go paragliding or fly-fishing, using one of these chosen activities as a means to acclimatize to the Aspen area (elevation 7,980 feet). Your acclimatization day also includes one high mountain gondola ride up Aspen Mountain and lunch at the Sundeck Restaurant (elevation 11,200 feet) where you'll enjoy amazing views of the valley's highest peaks, including the Maroon Bells.
Day 2 - South Maroon Peak: We'll begin our first climb with an alpine start. In the pre-dawn hours, we'll make our way past Maroon Lake and Crater Lakes hiking towards South Maroon Peak. Depending on conditions and the desired route for the climb, we may choose the 'Y'couloir, a steep snow climb, or ascend the standard route up the Southwest ridge.
Day 4 - Snowmass Lake: This time tested peak sits back in the heart of the Elks and demands the respect of all mountaineers. Our day begins with an early start with a beautiful hike into the heart of the Maroon Bells Wilderness to Snowmass Lake where the team will set up camp, and prepare for a summit attempt on Snowmass Mountain early the next morning.
Day 5 - Snowmass Mountain: We'll begin with an alpine start, ascend Snowmass Mountain's snow-field to gain the West Ridge and then scramble to the summit. After returning to our Snowmass Lake camp, we'll hike out the remaining eight miles to the trailhead, for a total of twenty-one miles round trip, to complete the climb! At the end of this gorgeous tour, the team will celebrate with a farewell dinner at one of Aspen's finer restaurants.
