Aspen Highlands Lift-Served Backcountry Skiing

Join one of our IFMGA/AMGA certified/trained mountain ski guides for a fantastic lift-served ski/riding descent from Aspen Highlands!

Ski into the untracked wilderness with us! Depending on your level of skiing/riding and the snow and weather conditions, we will guide you down a ski descent beyond the top of Aspen Highlands Bowl.

After reaching the top of Highlands bowl, we'll saddle up for a hike (20 to 50 min.) along the scenic Highlands Ridge. Then we'll drop in to one of the many 4000 vertical feet ski descents available to us off of the Ridge. Our knowledge of the ski/riding descents off of Aspen Highlands is unsurpassed.

Itinerary

Lift accessed backcountry skiing day - A snapshot of your adventure-
*If time allows, meet your guide the evening before, at the shop at the base of Aspen Highlands.

* Your day's adventure begins at 8:30 AM where your guide will have an orientation and quick talk on avalanche awareness. You'll gear up with an avalanche beacon and shovel, AT ski gear & day pack. You'll receive instructions on the use of the gear.

* At 9:00 you're on your way. You'll ascend the lifts of Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk, or Snowmass to gain altitude. After a short hike and depending on your location and conditions, you'll ski up to 4,000 ft. (1000 - 1500 m) of untracked powder that the Aspen area mountains are famous for. And, depending on the groups energy and excitement, you can do it again and again!

* You'll lunch on the trail or at any of the slope side restaurants.
