Alpine Touring (AT) equipment allows any competent advanced intermediate or better alpine skiier to access and ski the backcountry primarily because the bindings lock down on the descent similar to alpine skiing.
Alpine touring equipment includes alpine touring ski bindings with releasable lock down heels mounted on skis designed for backcountry snow conditions. The AT bindings are desigend to be used with a special alpine touring ski boots with Vibram™ soles. Climbing skins that attach to the bottom of a ski are used to walk uphill on alpine touring equipment.
Aspen Expeditions has a comprehensive alpine touring demo center at the base of Aspen Highlands. Aspen Expeditions works closely with these outstanding companies; G3, Garmont, Black Diamond (Fritchi Diamir), Backcountry Access, Ortovox, and more.
In addition to AT gear, backcountry skiiers are equipped with a day backpack, shovel, probe and avalanche beacon.
Contact Aspen Expeditions to set up a complete backcountry demo.
